Ekapa is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, near the Free State border. Ekapa Mining is the 100% owner of Ekapa Resources and Ekapa Minerals. Ekapa Resources is the owner of the underground mining rights and Ekapa Minerals is the owner of the surface mining rights. It is operated as one entity and comprises five units, namely Joint Shaft, Wesselton, Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), Surface Mining and Services and Support

JOB DESCRIPTION: Specifies, develops and writes test plans and test scripts, produces test cases, carries out regression testing, and uses automated test software applications to test the behaviour, functionality and integrity of systems, and documents the results of tests in defect reports and related documentation.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project Management:
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities of designated projects and ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters
  • Establish work plan for each phase of the project
  • Proactively manage project risks, monitor, and control action plans to minimize risk

• Project Participation:
  • Perform configuration and customization
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members regarding optimum and appropriate system solutions

• System analysis, design and development
  • Plan testing of system and interfaces
  • Participate in systems test and integration tests, assist with diagnosis and correction of any errors
  • Data integration and analysis

• Research best practices for systems development
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of business processes
  • Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency

• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Relevant operational reports as and when required
  • Communicate and consult with relevant stakeholders

• Maintain, repair and upgrade Database infrastructure
  • Recommend and implement upgrades, patches
  • Analyse and monitor server security and make recommendations or implement patches/fixes to address potential security holes
  • Provide on-call and weekend support when needed

• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and specifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc Computer Science / Information Technology Diploma
• 5 years’ experience in Systems and Database management
• Valid driver’s license (Own Transport)

OTHER TRAINING:

• Experience implementing and supporting secure Database infrastructure solutions
• Strong knowledge of SQL queries, Data management and Database server management
• Experience in complex interconnected databases with cloud and on-premises systems
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, MySQL, XML and complex query development
