Ekapa is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, near the Free State border. Ekapa Mining is the 100% owner of Ekapa Resources and Ekapa Minerals. Ekapa Resources is the owner of the underground mining rights and Ekapa Minerals is the owner of the surface mining rights. It is operated as one entity and comprises five units, namely Joint Shaft, Wesselton, Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), Surface Mining and Services and Support.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintain and inspect equipment according to OEM, Mine Health and Safety Act and prescribed
performance requirements. This position is based at Joint Shaft.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend to machinery breakdowns
- Detect and diagnose faults in machines and parts
- Diagnose and test parts with the available computer programmes
- Dismantle and remove machine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components
- Inspect parts, components and equipment for availability, defects and report deviations
- Perform planned maintenance, inspections and required tests on equipment
- Perform risk assessments (activity-based and mini)
- Assemble machine components and fit parts after repaired
- Performing lock outs
- Service machinery for optimal availability and performance
- Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices
- Responsible for the management of consumable stock levels (spares and hydrocarbons)
- Must be able to work shifts and overtime, if required and be able to do standby with callouts
- Administration for area of responsibility
- Ensure compliance to Statutory requirements, Mine Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- 5 years underground experience post apprenticeship in the Mining Environment
- Documentation: Candidates with a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test must submit a statement of results from an accredited MQA trade test centre and evidence of training conducted at a technical centre (e.g., Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Applications without these documents will not be considered.
- Non-Consideration: Candidates with S28 Trade Test certificates from non-mining sector centres will not be considered.
ADVANTAGEOUS
- Experience on Sandvik drill riggs, LHD, ADT, Manitou and Aard TMM
- N2 Certificate
